DONEGAL COASTAL HOUSE

The Coastal House has been designed for a location overlooking the Atlantic ocean The house is situated on rugged terrain by the water’s edge, designed to harmonize with the landscape while maximizing the scenic waterfront views. The house integrates into the hillside location allowing its ground floor accommodation, courtyard garden and garage to be mostly concealed. The dwelling is split level, accessible at both ground and first floor level for both pedestraians and vehicles. The first floor accommodates the living room, dining room, kitchen, utility room, office and ocean view balconies. The ensuite bedrooms and bathroom are located on the ground floor with access to a private ocean view terrace off the larger bedrooms. The building is a mass cast concrete structure inside and out finished with grass roof and aluminium glazing to create a highly insulated NZEB energy efficent low maintenance dwelling. This narrow selection of meaterials contribute to the home’s minimalist and sophisticated aesthetic.. In summary this house exemplifies modern architectural principles with its emphasis on simplicity, functionality, and connection to the environment.
