Loughside Lodge eco friendly house design

Nestled amidst the vibrant hues of autumn in a secluded location set by the side of a small lake amongst woodland, this eco friendly Loughside Lodge is a harmonious blend of nature and architecture. This is not just a house, but a sanctuary constructed from wood, metal, stone and glass, a tranquil retreat that pays homage to the beauty of its surroundings. This house can be described as a modern haven, a place where design and nature converge to create a home that is as stunning as it is serene. It’s a celebration of the possibilities of architecture, a tribute to the beauty of nature, and a demonstration to the power of design to enhance our lives.

The design is decidedly contemporary, with clean lines and geometric forms that create a striking silhouette against the backdrop of the landscape. One of the home’s most striking features is its expansive windows. These windows not only flood the interior with natural light but also blur the boundaries between inside and outside, creating a seamless connection with the environment. Adding to the home’s charm is the elevated wooden deck dressed with seating and potted plants overlooking the water’s edge. This outdoor living space invites relaxation and contemplation, offering a perfect spot to enjoy the serenity of the loughside. In design terms this house is more than a dwelling; it is evidence of the possibilities of modern architecture to create spaces that are both beautiful and in harmony with the natural world.

In purely practical terms the Loughside Lodge is a three level structure. The lower ground level houses an entertainment suite, gym and a canoe store that opens out directly onto the jetty. The ground floor accommodates the living room, dining room, kitchen with direct access to the outdoor deck with the bedrooms, bathroom and an office located on the first floor. The plan places all the circulation space facing north allowing all the living and bedroom accommodation to overlook the lake and to maximise the aspect open to sun light . The lower ground floor is a solid stone base that supports the upper floors all finished in timber T&G strip boards and a profiled insulated metal roof.
